Built in 1835 as a hunting lodge, converted to a palace in 1925 as the residence of the Maharaja of Jaipur and finally converted as India’s first palace hotel in 1957.

ACCESSIBILITY ::

Rajvilas is located on Goner Road in the peaceful Rajasthan countryside, 8 km from the city centre, off the Jaipur-Agra highway.


The approximate driving time from Jaipur airport is 35 minutes, a distance of 16 km.

Fortress walls gleam white in the moonlight surrounding an 18th century Hindu temple rising out of a lotus strewn pond. Carved elephants rear at entrances, and fountains glitter lavishly with hand painted blue tiles.


Dancers perform by candlelight, as you dine off of hand painted tablecloths. Men stalk the grounds in uniform, shooing the birds away.
